Lumbersexual In? MetroSexual out?!

Metrosexual is out, Lumbersexual is in. These 10 hotties clean up good when they have to, but they still manage to look super hot when rocking the stubble! Who do you think is the top 'Lumbersexual?

Yesterday’s urban male wore a slim-cut pair of pants, perhaps a button-down shirt with a narrow tie. He kept a clean shave, and generally looked tidy. His look was coined “metrosexual.”
beckham.jpg

The “metrosexual” precursor to the “lumbersexual.” David Beckham was described as “the biggest metrosexual in Britain” in a 2002 Salon article that helped lead to the term’s popularity

Today, the metrosexual is a disappearing breed being quickly replaced by men more concerned with existing in the outdoors, or the pseudo-outdoors, than meticulous grooming habits.

He is bar-hopping, but he looks like he could fell a Norway Pine.
metrojack.jpg
Lumbersexual or metrojack?
He looks like a man of the woods, but works at  Nerdy programming for a healthy salary and benefits. His backpack carries a MacBook Air, but looks like it should carry a lumberjack’s axe.
He is the Lumbersexual.
lumbersexal.jpg
Seen in New York, LA and everywhere in between, the Lumbersexual is bringing the outdoor industry’s clothing and accessories into the mainstream.
Whether the roots of the lumbersexual are a cultural shift toward environmentalism, rebellion against the grind of 9-5 office jobs, or simply recognition that outdoor gear is just more comfortable, functional and durable, the Lumbersexual is on the rise.
Lumberjack.jpg

Let’s have a look at the spectrum of the Lumbersexual. On the beginner’s end of the spectrum, here’s Ryan Gosling dabbling in the Lumbersexual look while arriving on the set of a Hollywood film. Notice the Jansport Pleastanton , a leather lumberjack-style pack complete with laptop sleeve, and the RedWing 875 work boots.
gosling.jpg
Not fully embracing the full lumber in Lumbersexual, this cleaner, still slightly urban look, we suggest, should be described as “MetroJack.”
MetroJack.jpg
The MetroJack has even been seen wearing pieces inspired from mountaineering. He might be wearing a Patagonia heritage jacket, or some technical Cordura nylon pants that look great in the low light of the bar, but also provide protection from a chain-saw blade. The MetroJack’s reasonable grooming habits increase his likelihood of finding a MetroJill.

The “Vermont” retro-mountaineering glasses are among the best selling models from Julbo this year.

The look appears in its most extreme form on the runways of Paris.
On the other side of MetroJack is the advanced LumberSexual.

Actual lumberjack — going pro with work clothes and a Stihl saw!
The End!

Are you a Lumbersexual? It’s like metrosexual, only the opposite!!

A new Man Trend has sent the think piece index soaring: Lumbersexuality. But what does this mean...to you? If you're ready, allow me to explain what it means to be Lumbersexual.

Introducing The Hot New Trend Among Men: “Lumbersexual”

Leather, denim, plaid, and flannel.

Beard.

Nature.

Wood.

lumbersexual men build their own dressers, know the secret location of wild blackberries, and have a beard that looks “long, bushy, and unkempt…”

So what sets lumbersexual men apart from lumberjacks?

Well, aside from not actually working in the logging industry, lumbersexual men have a CALCULATED look with the desire to be (and be seen) as rugged and the heteronormative version of “manly.”

In other words, it’s like Ron Swanson mixed with Ryan Gosling.

To facilitate an easy discussion, it might help you to think of a Lumbersexual as a foil to the Metrosexual, the alleged nadir of masculinity from last decade. So, instead of slim-legged pants, envision pants with a little extra leg room (see: "regular cut"). Rather than be clean-shaven, the Lumbersexual has an unkempt beard. The Metrosexual is clean and pretty and well-groomed;
the Lumbersexual spends the same amount of money, but looks filthy. Sartorially speaking, a Lumbersexual is a delicate tri-blend of L.L. Bean, Timberlake, and Sears. (Remember: Man Trends, and the thinkpiece index on which they are traded, bear only a glancing relationship to "real life" and "timeliness.")
But don't take my word for it. A website called GearJunkie ( "a top online publication for product reviews and news in the outdoors world" that "contains thousands of pages of content") the cognitive dissonance inherent to the Lumbersexual.
"He is bar-hopping, but he looks like he could fell a Norway Pine," writer Tom Puzak explains. "His backpack carries a MacBook Air, but looks like it should carry a lumberjack's axe." Wow!
See, what aligns the Lumbersexual with the Metrosexual is not the clothes or the skincare regimen, but rather intent—both kinds of men are working very hard to fashion themselves into a certain look, and presumably, a way of thinking:

World Premiere Interview: Adam Senn

Adam Senn starting his modeling career at the age of 18, he happened to be with a girlfriend at a hotel where there was a modeling convention going on. He was approached by a few different agents and ended up calling one eventually (Gaspard Lukali-Lacote, an agent from Re:Quest Models)
It was 2002, and he was 18 when he moved to New York.Adam is one of the “muse” of Dolce & Gabbana, with co-star like David Gandy or Noah Mills, and so he is definitively part of the most famous campaign of the Fashion industry, either with his friends or alone. Most of the pictures were shot by the photographer Mario Testino.
Hello Adam, I am proud to interview you, just to start it off, though you are very famous, please give me some background information.
Come on I am not famous nor would I wanna be, I wish that on no one. I was born in Paris, France, raised in Sugarland Texas where I still have a house and I live/work in New York. I gave up a golf scholarship to Texas Tech to study Theater arts in Manhattan when I was 18, and picked up modeling to pay my way through school. I have a wonderful supportive family and the best little sister any guy could ask for!
Who discovered you and convinced you to become a model and how old were you at the time?
I had been approached several times starting when I was 15 to be a model and I never thought it was for me cause I was set on playing golf for the rest of my life. And one thing led to another by the time I was 18. I ran into a agent from New York in a hotel lobby in Houston and was asked to come to NY to check it out. I saw it as a stepping stone to get involved with some of the best theater arts associations in NY. Being a little burnt out on golf, I gave up a free ride, and I promised my parents I would enroll into acting classes, needless to say they were skeptical, but here I am 8 years later still in NY hacking away.
-Do you remember your first main assignment as a model?
Very first shoot was with Hillary Swank for Intouch mag.

You  worked with many famous photographers, Mario Testino just to mention one, how was working with him? how would you describe him as a photographer and as a person?
Mario is one of the best, he has a eye for taking pictures that are one of a kind.

You are a very successful model and you have done several major campaigns but is there still a fashion campaign and a designer you would like to work for?
Haha, funny you ask that, hummmm I would love to work for Ralph Lauren I only wear Polo when I play golf, lol.
I know you’re an actor as well, when did you get interested in movies? Have you ever taken acting classes?
I had movie night every Friday at my house since I was born. My father raised me on all the Classics and my uncle raised me on Horror. I have taken theater classes since I was 12, through high school and have studied with several amazing teachers here in New York. You can never learn enough!

-What kind of movies would you like to star in? And what character would you most like to play?
I love films that take you through twist and turns and make you think. I would love to play a wide range of characters, I love to work hard in order to be well rounded, so I cant choose just one type of character, but psychotic is always fun! “Clock work Orange” comes to mind!
-Tell me about your restaurants in NYC, when did you decide to set up this business? what kind of  are they?
I got involved in restaurants about 5 years ago, a friend of mine is very successful in the business and I had a opportunity to invest with him in two, called Il Bastardo and Sete. I had a concept for a wine bar so we changed Sete and named it Bar Baresco and turned it into a wine and pizza bar. I just took over a third restaurant called Film Center Cafe. I changed the menu and decor and now its better than ever. My Grandfather had a catering service and my grandmother used to come up to NY from TX to cook with Martha Stewart so she always brought back some of the best recipes which I have installed into film centers comfort food menu.

-I know you’ve traveled around the world, where you would like to live other than where you do now?
I will always have a apt in NY but my heart still lies in Texas! I would love to build my dream home on lake Austin in TX.
-Who do you hang out with? Do you have any friends among male and female models?
Hummmm friends??? I have a few really good friends and many acquaintances. Noah Mills is a very good friend as well as Mark Vanderloo, Alex Lundquist.

-Thanks  Adam for taking your time to answer my questions, it was a gift to me and my readers!

World Premiere Interview: David Filipiak

When did you first become interested in modeling?

I first became interested in modeling when i finished receiving my college degree believe it or not.  My father is a CPA and my brother a lawyer, I saw the stress levels in their professions and the long hours and that simply didn’t appeal to me.  Thus, I began seeking an alternative avenue of work.

When did you know you wanted to get involved with modeling as a career?

After the first few months of being in this industry I noticed that it pays very well and I could have a long prosperous career basically to stay healthy and in shape at the same time.

What was the first agency you worked with?

The first agency I signed with was in Los Angeles with Nous Model Management.  I had gone on several interviews to different agencies and made the best decision appropriate to what I desired.

Describe to us the feeling you had on your first photo shoot.

To be honest I had no idea what I was doing haha.  It was very confusing on what the photographer wanted and how I was going to give him the shots he needed.  After the first one it came very easily and very comfortable.

You’ve gone to The University of California in San Diego and Santa Barbara and University of California. What did you study while you were there?

During my time at both Universities I studied business finance and international economics because I know how important it is to have a knowledgable base of how our economic and political structure operates.

You’re currently involved in athletics and foreign currency trading. What kind of athletics? How long have you been involved with foreign currency trading?

I have played baseball my whole life and received scholarships all over the country to play in college and now that I don’t play competitively anymore I still enjoy throwing the ball around with friends and playing football and basketball as good fun exercises.  As for the currency trading, I used my knowledge gained in college and applied it to the currency market.  You would be surprised which economic factors can drastically influence the trends of currencies around the world.

What is your advice to aspiring models?

My advice simply is know what your getting into and always have a back up plan because this industry is very inconsistent and ironically affected by the global economies situation. I.e. If the money supply is low and consumer spending is dropping, less profits to the corporations, less money means less products, less products means less advertising which affects the modeling industry dramatically.

Can you tell us the most exciting moment in your career? And looking back, what was the hardest?

The most exciting moment was probably when I booked a job for the new Disney resort in Hawaii and was able ton spend 10 days in paradise and only worked for a few hours the entire trip.  Basically it was an amazing vacation while getting paid.

The hardest jobs are the online look books because they are long days that involve 100’s of wardrobe changes and minimal pay haha.

Are there any questions you often get asked as a model?

The most frequent questions I get asked are typically how long I’ve been modeling and for what companies(clients) I’ve worked for.

If you hadn’t become a model, what else do you think you would be doing?

If I never began a career in this industry I would most likely be in the financial planning industry and hating my life haha.  Ultimately, my profession now allows me to have a lot of time off while still enjoying life and making a successful living from it.

You’ve worked with the KULT Model Agency,  Elite Model Management , Directions USA, Sight Management Studio, and most recently the  Abercrombie & Fitch clothing line. What else do you have planned in the future?

One can never predict what will happen in the future but my ultimate goal is to be happy.  What I mean by that is that I want to have a family and be able to support them and give them everything they deserve and being a father is most important to me more than anything.David Filipiak
