Brian Shimansky: Male SuperModel

A few days ago, I posted a photo series snapped by Rick Day for ADON magazine  One of the models featured in the “Stiff Upper Lip” editorial was the sexy Brian Shimansky. With a recently debuted commercial for Versace fragrance Eros and the aforementioned fashion editorial..

Shimansky was born in West Caldwell, New Jersey in 1988. The 6’2″ male model was discovered at a John Mayer concert by a modeling scout. Within a week, he was signed with two agencies- Major Models and D’Management. Brian shot to fame when he was featured in D&G’s Spring/Summer 2009 campaign photographed by the famed Mario Testino.

Since then, he’s booked campaigns for Saks Fifth Avenue, Blanco Denim, Macy’s, Versace and many more. His editorial credits include spreads in VMAN, Glamor Germany, Attitude, L’Official Hommes and Dansk.

In his spare time, Brian likes to fish, hike, mountain bike, snowboard and play baseball. Regarding the latter, Shimansky pitched for four years during his college years.

Brian looks like a Greek god in Versace’s fragrance commercial, but can also pull off Hamptons All-American prep.

Height: 6’2″
Waist: 32
Shoe: 11.5
Hair: dark brown
Eyes: blue

New Jersey native Brian Shimansky is a true renaissance man. When he isn't modeling as the face of Versace, he coaches little league back home and builds furniture in his spare time.

How were you discovered? By a scout as I was walking into a John Mayer concert.
Your first modeling gig: L'Officiel Hommes editorial
When you aren't modeling, what do you like to do? I coach baseball, enjoy woodworking, and play guitar.

Woodworking? As in building furniture? Yes, lately I've been designing custom suspended shelving systems using ropes and chains for support.

How did you get involved coaching baseball in New Jersey? After four years of college ball I felt there was a lot to give back to the high school guys about the next level and how to prepare for it.
Any funny memories about balancing modeling with coaching? Every practice there's a player or two asking me how to do "Blue Steel."

You've worked with Versace…any memorable moments with Donatella? Especially memorable was the night of the SoHo boutique opening. Donatella had a great dinner party afterwards where I met Princess Charlene of Monaco, Victoria Silvstedt, and Lady Gaga.

Describe your personal style in three words: Sturdy, layered, tailored.
What's your morning grooming routine? I keep Weleda Skin Food and Kiehl's 10.5% Vitamin C concentrate around.

The one item from your wardrobe you'd save in a fire: My Burberry bomber jacket.
How do you stay in shape? I do high intensity body weight core training mixed with yoga and martial arts.
You're best quality: I build a great bonfire.

You're worst quality: Moving slow.
If you could change one thing about your body, it would be: I'd get Spider Man web shooters in my wrists.
Best piece of advice you've ever been given? My dad always says, "The game's the tip of the iceberg."
