Yasmeen Ghauri: SuperModel 90s Catwalk

[yasm013.jpg]

Yasmeen Le Bon first appeared on the fashion scene in 1985, on the covers of AMERICAN and BRITISH ELLE.
Born in Oxford, England to an English mother, Yasmeen inherited her exotic olive-skin from her Iranian father.

She was 19 when she signed-on at a notable London-based modeling agency. During the 1980's, Yasmeen became part of that exclusive group of girls known simply to everyone as the 'supermodel'. Working together, she formed close friendships with colleagues Cindy, Naomi, Christy, Elle and others.

In April 1987, Yasmeen was featured together with Estelle Lefebure in an advertising campaign for GUESS?, shot in Paris by Wayne Maser.

It wasn't long before the mass of requests started coming in and Yasmeen was shooting a multitude of fashion covers, editorials and advertising campaigns.
Her chic, ironic beauty and elegance, brought her to the runways of top designers from CHANEL and YVES SAINT LAURENT in Paris to VERSACE and DOLCE & GABBANA in Milan.

She was guest editor for English ELLE's 10th Birthday Special Collectors issue in 1995. Yasmeen also appeared on the cover of that issue. In 1996, she was selected to represent PANTENE shampoo in their television and press campaign.

In 1996 and 98, Yasmeen was spokesperson and the face of the T-shirts for the FASHION TARGETS BREAST CANCER awareness campaign. Yasmeen signed a contract with CHANEL for beauty/skin care in 1997.

Her biggest joy is her family! Since the age of 21, Yasmeen has been happily married to Simon Le Bon, lead singer of the famed English band DURAN DURAN. After seeing Yasmeen in a magazine, Simon was determined to meet her.

So, he hounded his friends and colleagues in the effort to get an introduction. From that moment, the two have been inseparable. The couple now have three daughters: Amber Rose born in 1989, Saffron in 1991 and Tallulah in 1994.

After the birth of their third child, and an eighteen month absence, Yasmeen returned to the runways with her daughters to walk for CHANEL and MARKS & SPENCER.

In 1997, Yasmeen made her acting debut in the BBC's SEX AND CHOCOLATE television series, in which she played a fashion model. Two years later, she appeared with her husband Simon, in HUNTING VENUS, a film about an 80's rock band.

Yasmeen was part of the 1997 Yasmeen Mills' documentary BLOODY WOMAN DRIVERS, containing interviews of English girls with a passion for automobiles.
Well into the new millennium, Yasmeen has been on the covers of AUSTRALIAN ELLE, HARPERS & QUEEN and February 2003's RED with colleagues Cindy Crawford and Gail Elliot.

She's also been featured in recent editorials for ITALIAN VOGUE, BUSINESS VOGUE and DUTCH, as well as, in the advertising campaign for MOET photographed by Patrick Demarchelier.
Living in England, Yasmeen finds time occasionally for some special modeling assignments but devotes most of her time to her family.
