Karl Lagerfeld has nothing nice to say about Heidi Klum, Seal, Adele, Fat People and almost everybody! Karl Lagerfeld is the 78-year-old designer who is also the mastermind behind Chanel and Fendi. You might recognize him since he's often wearing head-to-toe black, dark sunglasses, a ponytail, and carries a fan. To say he's eccentric would be an understatement-in fact, we think he gets off saying shocking and offensive things the fashion elite will then gobble up and swoon over. But even if Lagerfeld is a fashion genius, we refuse to laugh or even shrug off his distasteful remarks, which at this point are more predictable than provocative.
Lagerfeld's latest off-the-cuff insults target Adele, the best-selling singer of 2011. While the designer understands her popularity, he told in Metro where he recently posed as guest editor, that her physical appearance is rather unfortunate. "The thing at the moment is Adele," he told Metro.
"She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice." Interesting statement coming from Lagerfeld who himself was 90 pounds heavier before his extreme diet 2001. And while many criticize newbie singer Lana del Rey as a contrived flash in the pan, Lagerfeld likes how she looks, and feels this makes her acceptable. "Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She's not alone with implants."
Next Lagerfeld goes on to bash Russians. Why, we don't know. But he's "the Kaiser" so why not? "If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly. There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell's boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men." While his comments may not be considered as offensive as Jean Galliano's anti-Semitic rant that got him fired from Dior, we think Lagerfeld's comments can be extremely aggressive and hurtful.
Lastly, Lagerfeld endorses President Barack Obama. Even though he's never voted in his life. But his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, is pretty! And isn't that reason enough to like the guy? "Yes he does [deserve to be re-elected], especially because of Mrs. Obama," Lagerfeld told Metro. "I'm a big fan of Mrs. Obama - and her face, I think, is magical. He would not be there without her. Mrs. Obama is not a fashion statement, but she has other things to do. My favorite thing about Mrs. Obama was when she was asked if her skirt was not too tight and she answered "Why you don't like my big black ass?" [Ed. note: Kristina Schake, Director of Communications to First Lady Michelle Obama released a statement confirming she never said anything of the kind.] I want Obama to win because there is nothing better anyway, and especially because of her."
Lagerfeld's agenda and tastes are obvious. Pretty and thin = good. Ugly = bad. But is the fashion world so insanely shallow that they treat him like some kind of prophet? Ugh, we find it so gross.
In honor of Lagerfeld's latest insults, we've rounded up his most controversial and offensive comments ever. Take a look, and let us know if you think this guy should be an admirable icon.
On weight:
"No one wants to see curvy women. You've got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying thin models are ugly. Fashion is about dreams and illusions."

"The body has to be impeccable as well-that helps a lot. If it's not, buy small sizes and eat less food."

"Florals are for middle-aged women with weight problems."
Via Karl Lagerfeld Quotes On vanity:
"Life is not a beauty contest, some [ugly people] are great. What I hate is nasty, ugly people... the worst is ugly, short men. Women can be short, but for men it is impossible. It is something that they will not forgive in life... they are mean and they want to kill you."

"I'm very impeccable and clean before I go to bed. It's just like right before I'm going out. When I was a child, my mother always told me that you could wake up in the middle of the night and be deathly sick, so you always have to be impeccable. I laugh about it now, but I think everyone should go to bed like they have a date at the door."

"Vanity is the healthiest thing in life."

On money:
"If you throw money out of the window throw it out with joy. Don't say 'one shouldn't do that' - that is bourgeois"
Source: The Observer
On why he's pro-fur:
"It is farmers who are nice to the cows and the pigs and then kill them. It's even more hypocritical than hunters. At least the hunters don't flatter the animals....I don't like that people butcher animals, but I don't like them to butcher humans either, which is apparently very popular in the world."

On kids:
"Having adult children makes you look 100 years old. I don't want that"

On sex:
"I personally only like high-class escorts. I don't like sleeping with people I really love. I don't want to sleep with them because sex cannot last, but affection can last forever. I think this is healthy. And for the way the rich live, this is possible."

On magazines:
"People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women." [Ed. note: Does anyone know what this means?!]

On making offensive remarks:
"Be politically correct, but please don't bother other people with conversation about being politically correct, because that's the end of everything. You want to create boredom? Be politically correct in your conversation."
Heidi Klum is a nobody in fashion, according to Karl Lagerfeld. Amid hub-bub over a different designer claiming the former Victoria's Secret model is too heavy for the catwalk, Karl piled on the British press, saying "I don't know her. Claudia Schiffer doesn't know her. Linda Evangelista doesn't know her. Niamoi Cambell doesn't know her. She was never in Paris; we don't know her."
Along with slamming Seal's then-wife Klum, Karl lashed out at the "Kiss From A Rose" singer, dissing his skin. Seal's face is marked with scars from a childhood battle with the auto-immune disease Lupus. "I am no dermatologist but I wouldn't want his skin," Karl said to the UK's Sun. "Mine looks better than his. He is covered in craters." Alright, Lagerfeld ... Time to get a life.
