Dolce & Gabbana presented its latest Alta Moda collection in Sicily last weekend. In a departure from its traditional hyper-Italian motifs, the design duo offered up a stunning exploration of Ancient Greece, transforming models into modern-day goddesses.
Presenting 125 looks, models walked a historic runway in one of Sicily's most important archaeological sites, the towering Tempio della Concordia in the Unesco-listed Valley of the Temples.
“In this setting that has no equal anywhere in the world, our Alta Moda creations will re-evoke the enduring myths of classicism, which have continued to fascinate poets, painters and sculptors for centuries now. And, just as those artists who have never tired of reinterpreting them in their masterpieces, so our seamstresses have incessantly painted, embroidered and sewn them onto the garments,” Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana expounded in their show notes.
