Yesterday, Tony Award winner & TV Icon, Julie Newmar, celebrated her 86th birthday by posting a photo inspired the portrait Olivia De Haviland had done for her 103rd birthday in Paris this summer.

Starting out as a dancer, then actress on the stage and big screen, Newmar made the transition to TV on a Jonathan Winters Special, The Danny Kaye Show & The Mike Douglas Show. But she’s best known as a cat.
In 1966, urged by her brother, she created Catwoman for the TV hit Batmanand her sense of humor and that BODY made her this show’s most popular villain.
In her 60s, she became a sensation modeling in Paris for Thierry Mugler and starring among the fashion world’s most gorgeous Supermodels in George Michael’s Too Funky.
Few actresses have a movie named after them, but her name literally became box office hit with To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.
In a book on the often asked questions, there are few answers when it comes to her beauty regime,
“It’s the inner life that’s all important.”
