As expected, on Wednesday, June 11, the world's most watched serial, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful”
took home its ninth consecutive Golden Nymph at the International TV
Audience Awards during the 54th Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monte
Carlo. The soap won in the “Telenovela/Soap Opera” category.
“B&B” executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell and cast members Kim Matula (Hope Logan), Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan Forrester) and Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) accepted the award on stage at the Closing Awards Ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo.
The International TV Audience Awards are determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 66 countries as measured by Médiamétrie and Eurodata TV Worldwide. The win signifies that “B&B” delivered higher ratings worldwide in 2013 than any other telenovela or daily drama series. Created by Médiamétrie, Eurodata TV Worldwide distributes programming and audience information, based on its partnership with the national institutes operating people meter systems throughout the world.
“B&B’s” win coincides with actors Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) and Ashleigh Brewer (Ivy Forrester) beginning work on a three-day multi-episode location shoot in Paris to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the soap broadcasting in France.
The series was first aired on French state
broadcaster France 2 under the title “Amour, Gloire et Beauté” on June
12, 1989. Matula and Brooks will travel to Paris on June 13 and 14 to
shoot additional scenes alongside Clifton and Brewer.
