Pizzi, Italian Style!

Who is Lawrence Pizzi?
People around him might say Lawrence is a man full of ideas and overflowing with talent. Others may talk about his energy, passion for fashion, or even his bubbly personality. But ask a woman or a man who wear his fashions and you will get a different answer.
Reaching for the classics, they demand clothes that are timely yet timeless, work for work, and fit perfectly into their life style. This too is Lawrence Pizzi, a designer that has always understood that while trends come and go, style and one's self-stated elegance is forever.
Born in Toronto, Lawrence traveled to Milan to study tailoring at the world renowned "Istituto Artistico del'Abbigliamento Marangoni ". after completing his studies he worked in major fashion capitals (LA, Toronto, Milano, Shanghai, New York, to name a few).

Just as a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, Lawrence launched his Haute Couture Collection in April 1998.the success of the collection led to dressing Divas--Patti LaBelle, Lauryn Hill, Patti Springsteen, Liane Foly for stage events and privately...

On September 11, 1999 - a date that remained dear to Lawrence - he premiered his Ready-To-Wear collection, sponsored by Air FRANCE, with 7th On 6th .

After which, his garments appeared on TV ("All My Children"), cinema ("Licensed to Kill" and"Perfume"), graced the red carpets of the Soap Opera Digest Awards & the Europe MTV Awards. His designs also appeared in print worldwide - Euromode (Poland), Vogue Italia (Italy), South Africa Vogue (South Africa), Marie Claire (France and Italy), Vogue Korea (South Korea) and many more.

Lawrence had also been awarded the WLIB/WBLS "Circle of Sisters" Designer of the Year (1998), "Best Tailoring in a PrĂȘt-A-Porter Collection 2001 & 2002" from Monaco.
Lawrence was living the life he always dreamt of, designing clothes for the world.  But one day in 2001 his life changed. On September 11th, with the fall of the twin towers, Lawrence sat as his business folded before him. With over 80% of his USA made garments destined for the Middle East, orders were cancelled.

Wounded but not defeated, Lawrence went back to work and began again. He created excitement at every label he worked with. even helping launch several new stars in the NYC fashion scene. Lawrence Pizzi is ready to do what he does best - make beautiful clothes that people want and need.
And yes, he is going to be interviewed for the next issue of Anolie Magazine and we will learn more about the larger than life designer!
