26-Year-Old Model Dies on Runway at Sao Paulo Fashion Week
In a shocking incident, a Brazilian male model has breathed his last right on the runway. This may be the first time a model has passed away, right on the runway. He seemed starved and malnourished as well on the stage. The possible reason for death is being said to be a heart attack.
"SPFW has just received the news of the death of model Tales Soares, who suddenly took ill during the Ocksa show," the organization said in a statement, without giving a cause of death. Soares was only 26 years old. Back in 2007, 18 year old Eliana Ramos, a model from a prestigious agency was found dead in her bedroom. Six months ago her sister Luisel also had a heart attack during a catwalk show. It was said that she had eaten nothing but lettuce leaves for three months. In 2010, French model Isabelle Caro had died due to respiratory complications as a result of her anorexia nervosa. Caro was 28.
26-year-old model Soares fell while turning to leave the runway. According to a report in Ottawa Citizen, the Daily Folha de S. Paulo reported that Soares tripped on his shoelace and fell. Reportedly, people in the crowd initially thought his fall was part of a performance. Medics immediately attended to him in front of horrified onlookers, according to local media reports.
"We offer our sincere condolences to Tales' family," it said, while label Ocksa said on Instagram its entire team was "shocked" by the death of Soares, who was signed to Base MGT modelling agency.
