Dynasty season 2: Release date, cast, spoilers and everything you need to know!
The CW's reboot of Dynasty hasn't exactly been a huge ratings hit yet in the US, but thanks to its Netflix deal internationally, it was recomissioned for a second season in April as part of a mass renewal for the network.
"As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday-through-Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come," explained The CW's president Mark Pedowitz.
Following a huge cliffhanger to season one, what can we expect from Dynasty season two?
The CW has confirmed that season two will premiere on Friday, October 12 in the US. Netflix airs the show in the UK and will likely continue to add new episodes the day after the US airing, so UK fans should be able to watch the season two premiere on Saturday, October 13.
The reboot saw a pleasingly dramatic raft of changes from the original characters with Sammy Jo changing from a woman to a gay man and the Colby family reborn entirely as African-American and, fortunately, most of them survived season one.
Dynasty season 2 cast: Who's coming back?
So we can expect season two to feature the likes of Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Rafael de la Fuente as Sam Jones, James Mackay as Steven Carrington and Brianna Brown as Claudia Blaisdel who, earlier in season one, admitted to causing the explosion that killed her husband Matthew (Nick Wechsler).
However, there were some character fates left up in the air in the dramatic season one finale as Cristal Flores Carrington (Nathalie Kelley) was shot in the stomach by Claudia (who thought she was shooting her dead husband, naturally), leaving her trapped in a house that had just been set on fire on Steven's wedding day.

"I know that I end up with a gunshot wound and in a fire at the end of season one, and I know that I won't be filming season two. Is it a coma? Is it death? I actually don't know. But I know that I'm not going to Atlanta [where Dynasty films] in July, that I'm staying [in Los Angeles]... I've got my life back."
Or maybe Kelley is just playing us all to keep everything spoiler-free.
And if you needed a bit more mystery, Ana Brenda Contreras will be playing the "real" Cristal in season two, so it seems it's not technically a recast.
And it seems that Cristal probably won't be making it out of that house alive. "I won't be returning... I haven't read anything for season two," Kelley revealed in June.

in season two, so it seems it's not technically a recast.
"It's a soap. It's a wild soap. It's like a telenovela. You do things that make sense for the moment based on where the storyline's going. That's really all it's about," explained The CW president Mark Pedowitz, who added that he was a "little surprised" Kelley revealed her exit.
Michael Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley) and Alexis Carrington (Nicollette Sheridan) were also trapped in the fire, while Steven was nowhere to be found. However, we have a feeling that both Michael and Steven will have survived, while Sheridan has been promoted to a series regular for season two, so she's going nowhere either. And if you need definite proof that Alexis survives, even the costume designer Meredith Markworth-Pollack has confirmed it. "I think there's a lot of room now that Nicollette is becoming a series regular and will be sticking around to really play with her [costumes] and push the envelope even more," she told Variety.
Even though the season premiere is only three months away, we don't know all that much about season two, other than the fact the fiery cliffhanger will have to be resolved. If Cristal really is dead though, it changes up the dynamic of the reboot which mainly revolved around the feud between Fallon Carrington and her stepmother Cristal.Dynasty being Dynasty though, this doesn't mean that Cristal is dead. She might be stuck in a coma for all of season two, before making a major return in season three, or she'll undergo extensive plastic surgery and be played by someone else. And maybe that version will come back and take on the "real" Cristal.
After all, she's the reboot's version of Krystle Jennings (Linda Evans) who was a lead character in the original show. There's also the small matter from the season finale where Steven's former lover Melissa Daniels (Kelly Rutherford) told him she was pregnant, just minutes before he was due to marry Sam. Awkward.
But it's not just fans who are in the dark over season two, the cast are as well. "I don't know what's going to happen, it stresses me out, they don't tell us anything," Gillies told TVLine, adding that after Fallon took on Alexis in season one, she'd like to see her spar with her father Blake Carrington (Grant Show) in season two.
