Donatella Versace lashes out at gay Designers!!

 

Tom Ford, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors and Gucci’s Alesandro Michelle might be crossing Donatella Versace off their Christmas card list following controversial comments from the vice president of the Versace group about gay designers.

 

In an interview with The Times magazine the sister of gay designer Gianni Versace, who took over the company following his tragic murder in 1997, said: "I love gay people. My friends are all gay. But some of the designers, when they design for a woman, they design for the woman they want to be.
"They are thinking of themselves. But themselves and the woman are not the same."

 

Donatella’s harsh words revive a heated debate about the role of gay designers in the industry which last erupted in 2005 when the founder of New York label Imitation of Christ, Tara Subkoff, took fire at gay designers at the New Yorker conference.

 

Tara described fashion as " a gay man's profession," saying that US Vogue editor Anna Wintour only supported "young, gay men."
The fiery debate was put to bed by Tom Ford in The New York Times, fresh from designing for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
"Men are often better designers for women than other women," Tom told The New York Times. "I think we are more objective. We don't come with the baggage of hating certain parts of our bodies."
Straight designers such as Paul Smith, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Rick Owens were saved the tongue-lashing from Donatella.

 

Don’t expect the terrifically tanned one to escape from the spotlight soon with Lady Gaga set to play Donatella in a television series based on the murder of her brother.

Glee producer Ryan Murphy is planning a 10-part American Crime Story series based on the incident.
"I was always very moved and freaked out by the Versace assassination, and I thought it was a really great story to do because it’s a manhunt season," Ryan said at Entertainment Weekly’s PopFest. "[Serial killer Andrew Cunanan] killed four people and then Versace, and was on the loose. We’re exploring the reasons of how he got away with being undetected."
