Madonna’s Vogue is 25! Here’s 11 reasons why it’s the best anthem EVER!!

Can you believe it’s 25 years since Madonna released Vogue?! Like really, can you?

Well we bloody well can’t (not least because it’s still one of our absolute fave dancefloor/ karaoke/ one-too-many v&t anthems).

In fact, we can’t think of a song that we love more, so here are 11 reasons why it’s the absolute best…

1. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as when you nail the Hollywood names in the rap.

2. It’s a dance that everyone can attempt (with varying results). As Madge says, “Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it”.

3. That see-through lace top in the video. Yes, you can totally see her boobs (which seemed REALLY rude when we were like eight).

4. The,”stick your elbow into the face of the dancer next to you” move. The perfect excuse to whack your dancing partner in the head (and blame it on Madonna).

5. Bonkers lyrics ahoy. Everyone had ‘style’ and ‘grace’ except poor old Rita Hayworth who just, ‘gave good face’. Eh?

6. Speaking of which, why does she say Harlow Jean and not Jean Harlow? Like literally, why?

7. It’s been covered by loads of other artists, including our personal favourite, the Chipettes on their highly regarded album Club Chipmunk. 

8. The cheesy 90’s house piano riff. They just don’t do ’em like that any more.

9. The pointy Jean Paul Gaultier bra and turban look. Perfect for popping down the shops. Or not.

10. It’s central message is a positive one, ‘Beauty’s where you find it’. We’ll Vogue to that.

11. It’s a guaranteed floorfiller whether it’s a school disco, wedding, hipster rave or even a wake. Trust us. Never underestimate the power of Vogue.
