Taschen introduces Mario Testino‘s latest book ‘SIR‘.
The limited edition coffee table book presents over 300 images
from the renowned photographer’s search to define the allure of men.
“The way men are seen in photography, in fashion, and the way that
men look at pictures of themselves has changed in recent years. It is a
subject that has come into focus: The masculine image, a man’s personal
style, changing attitudes to the male face and body.”
— Mario Testino
It definitely has, hasn’t it? Masculinity, in all its forms is a
fascinating subject. I feel like the line between masculine and feminine
is ever blurring and these captures are intimate in a way that feels
feminine or delicate, but with men as subjects. Does that make sense?
It’s lovely to see the male form be given Testino’s masterful eye.
Sir
is Testino’s largest book to date and features over 300 photos of Mr.
Testino’s search to define the allure of men by following their
evolution over the past three decades. He finds masculinity in its many
manifestations, “the dandy and the gentleman, the macho and the fey,
the world-famous face to the unknown passerby.” It’s a limited edition
of 1000, numbered and signed.
The book traces the evolution of male identity over the past three
decades including previously unpublished work, candid shots of famous
men including David Beckham, and iconic images published in top style
magazines.
The hardcover book (£450/€500) is presented in a metallic case with a
limited run of 1,000 numbered copies, each personally signed.
