-Hello
Sam, I'm really flattered you accepted to
be interviewed for my online mag, to start this interview
off, please give me some background information.
Hey everyone, its my pleasure to be on the website and answer your questions. I was born in Birmingham England, all my family live there still, and I have fond memories of growing up there, and have strong ties there still now! I now live in London and have been for 5 years. I have two sisters and a brother. We are all extremely close to the extent I would say we are best friends. I love them all.

-When did you start to model and what was your first modeling job?I started modeling by a freak set of coincidences, I got scouted in my hometown and at the time had no clue about the industry, I was totally oblivious. I was studying sports science at university but working on a building site and training to be a professional boxer, so modelling was not in my sight. I had never even been to London before. I was somewhat of a Birmingham boy. I have to thank my agency for opening my eyes.
-What was your first impression of the
modeling world and was there anything that surprised
you or that you didn't expect?I came to
the industry with my eyes completely shut. So came with
no expectations. I am so glad I made the huge step and
follow something completely out of "my world",
something that I could never have dreamt of. My mom
said to me on the first day I went to London "Sammy,
ride the wave and see where it takes you", well
mom I did and I am still on this riding this wave. My
first campaign was DG in summer '06, it was a great experience
working with Steven Klein and DG family, this was my
first taste, so to speak.
-You are a very
successful model, what have been some of the most memorable
modeling experiences you had so far?I have been very lucky in the opportunities that have arisen
for me in the industry. I am thankful for everything,
but
I love to work with Dolce and Gabbana, I did my first
ever campaign with them and worked with them throughout
my career thus far! Stefano and Domenico are amazing
to work with. They are great people personally and professionally.
I look at the models I have worked with consistently
for 5 years for DG and the whole team as a family. David
Gandy, Noah Mills, Adam Senn and also models such a
Tyson are like brothers, I am sure if this all ended
we would still meet for a beer or two. Another proud
moment was shooting with my father for Italian Vogue
with Bruce Weber. I feel it was a great opportunity
to show my dad what I do, especially as it is so hard
to explain as a profession.
-Turning to
some personal questions, what do you remember
about your school days, did you have many friends
and what was your favorite subject? Hahaha
when I was at school I was mischievious. I was boxing to a
high level at the time but also getting good grades!
I loved English as my mom introduced me to book and
poetry at a young age! So I was studious but didn't
follow the rules, which my teachers couldn't come to
terms with :)
-Do you have a personal
motto, that sums up your thoughts about life in a sentence? It's
funny you ask that, me and my brother have had a saying
since we were around 10 years old "All or Nothing"
I very much believe this and try and put my heart and
soul into anything I do.
-Thanks Sam for your time, it has been a gift to me and my readers!
