Dirk Bikkembergs
Menswear Spring Summer 2015 Milan
Dirk Bikkembergs spring summer
2015 mens collection, drenched in white with splashes of pine green,
kicked off with rows of buff models extended a in free-style position,
wearing uniform diving suits, swimming goggles, and bearing a lot of
skin.
The collection was as fresh as the first bites of a stick of Wrigley spearmint gum and made you want to dive right in.
As the brand expands more and more in China, we saw Dirk Bikkembergs
resort earlier this year to neon colors and bling bling furs for the
Shanghai club scene.
This time, Bikkembergs was true to his affinity for clean, sports
gear, and came up with a collection that echoed the triathlon world of
tight swimming trunks, bikers shorts and pants and cycling-style vests,
as well as a post-game wardrobe made for a man with a statuesque
physique.
Painter-style Japanese denim jeans, leather biker jackets and soft
summer silky sweaters infused the collection with an off-season feel,
while evening wear was dominated by formal suits in blue and black and
asymmetrical blazers with zip detail and jogging/tuxedo pants.
There were also a few luxury Italian leather pieces that accompanied
the collection: black penny loafers and treated, worn, natural brown
duffel bags accented with black bands.
Backstage, Italian triathlete Daniel Hofer said that he was keen on Bikkemberg's running shorts and pants.
