90s SuperModel: Shalom Harlow

Shalom Harlow was born on December 5, 1973.
Shalom is Hebrew for "Peace",
Born and raised in Oshawa, Ontario, Harlow was discovered by a model agent at the age of 17, while attending a Cure concert in Toronto.

Although she had initially dreamed of becoming an astronaut, she studied ballet during school and modeled for fashion magazines after completing high school.

Harlow moved up the ranks quickly and soon was flying off to Paris to start modeling for some of the top fashion designers in the world, including Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, and Christian Dior.
A vegetarian, she won VH-1 Model of the Year in 1995, and had a Nars lipgloss named after her.

Before hitting the big screen, Harlow was the host of MTV's popular House of Style. She then landed small roles in the comic films Unzipped, In & Out and Cherry, for which she was recognized for her natural comic timing.
