Designing duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are longtime "friends" of Victoria Beckham, but during a recent appearance in London at the Victoria and Albert Museum to celebrate The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014, the Italian fashion giants didn't exactly have the kindest words to say about their pal's high-fashion line.
"She's a friend," Gabbana said, according to the British newspapers, "She make a good job but...for us, she don't make the same way like a fashion designer."
Seemingly citing her pop star past, Dolce added, "She become after many, many, many different things. She's a designer but..."
When asked if the duo admired Beckham's work, Gabbana failed to pay his friend a compliment. "She's a fashion designer but it's another...it's different. John Galliano is a designer...Alexander McQueen."
And Dolce even grouped the former Spice Girl in with large affordable retailers, citing, "Victoria Beckham, Zara, H&M...
there's a lot."
Ouch!
Also in attendance at the event was the British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Shulman, who, too, was asked to share her opinion on the designs of David Beckham's better half.
When asked how the mother of four compares to the big names in fashion, she replied, "Victoria's growing...Valentino has been working since 1949 or something, so Victoria's got a way to go."
She added: "I think Victoria's a great designer and she's definitely got the determination to do it."
