Some of us might still remember the golden days of the Supermodel era in the good old 1990ies. Models back then were considered an elevated art form – becoming a celebrity of sorts. In that time a ton of movies were released on the glamorous life of the fashion industry, for example Robert Altman’s Prêt-à-Porter. Next to that also the music industry tapped into this phenomena. Most memorable is probably George Michael’s ‘Freedom! 90’ and ‘Too Funky’, featuring supermodels like Linda Evangelista, Nadja Auermann, Emma Sjöberg, Estelle Hallyday, Shana Zadrick, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford.

‘Too Funky’ was renowned for its futuristic fashion design by Thierry Mugler, who also directed the video. Now 21 years later the original directors cut was leaked on the web a few days ago – which shows a bit of a different take on the storyline, a bit more coherent and features more models male and female. Nice 90ies flashback goodies!

‘Too Funky’ – Director’s Cut - Thierry Mugler’s original director’s cut of George Michael’s “Too Funky” video is pretty spectacular. It differs quite a bit from the official clip, which focused on a few models strutting down a runway. Compared to the official version, this original take, directed by the fashion designer, had many more models featured (female and male) and an arguably more coherent storyline.

To be fair to Calvin Klein, the audience booed Bieber from the moment he walked on stage to when he began “flexing in his undies,” as Mashable’s Nehva Prakash reported.

Audiences have plenty of reason to be annoyed with Bieber, given recent arrests for house-egging and driving under the influence.
